Let’s give them all a hand. We want to welcome you all here today especially our parents who attended VBS this last week. And kids you are part of the service today which makes me feel pretty special. I love kids, so much. In fact, here’s a picture of all my kids when they were VBS age. Kids are a blessing from the Lord. We are thankful for all the kids God has given this church and we are praying for many more. Today we introduce a new FOUR PART series on Psalm 119. My job today is introduce and tackle the first 1/4 of it. This is a very interesting Psalm for at least two reasons. Acrostic First, in your English Bible you may have little headings above each section. In my ESV Bible it looks like this: It’s kind of hard to see. But here are the headings. What do these words mean? These are the names of the twenty two letters in the Hebrew alphabet. In English we have 26 letters but Hebrew only has 22. Now the kids in the room. I want you to read the first one here: Aleph. Now I want you to read the second letter: Bet. Now say it together as one one word. What does that kinda sound like? Alphabet! That’s where we get our word alphabet. Now why would there be a hebrew letter above each of these sections? Because this particular poem is written as an acrostic. What is an acrostic? Here’s a little acrostic poem about this week at VBS. All week long, we had so much fun, Boldly singing about God’s only Son. Camp food in our bellies for a week, Devouring the statements that Jesus did speak. Every day we took Him at His word, Finding joy with everything we heard. Growing in faith, a foundation that’s true, He is the vine, the bread, and the good shepherd for me and for you…
