Matthew 28:1-10 · Jesus' Passion. Exalting the Stone | Easter Sunday — sermon from Cypress Bible Church on BibleSlides.

Exalting the Stone | Easter Sunday Easter Sunday 2026 Well happy resurrection Sunday everyone. For the Christian, this is the most important day of the year. Nothing in the world can possibly be more significant that this. We are here this morning worship Jesus Christ, the LIVING King of Kings and Lord of Lord, the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, the Hero of History. We are here to marvel at our Savior, Jesus Christ who has risen from the dead. The resurrection IS THE defining CORNERSTONE event in all Christian history and the hope of the world. The STONE that the BUILDERS rejected has become the CHIEF CORNERSTONE. Today we are here to exalte that STONE Here’s why this is so important. All of us walk in here today with problems. Some of you have relational problems with your kids or in your marriage. Some of you have financial problems. Some of you have eating problems or health problems But there is one problem that is the GRAND DADDY of all problems, that makes all those other problems look like tropical vacations. But the fight doesn’t seem very fair. In the one corner we have the 850 prophets of Baal and Ashera and on the other side: the one prophet of God named Elijah. And there is this little contest that is established to determine which God is the God of the storm. And here were the rules: Elijah said, “We each get a bull. We each get wood. We each get an altar. but neither of us gets fire.” The God who answers by fire, he is the true God. And we watch as the prophets of Baal dance and rave. We watched as they scream and cry out. We watch as they demonstrate their sincerity by inflicting pain upon themselves and cutting themselves. On and on they go for 8 hours. And yet their god DOES NOT answer them. And we ask, why? Why was it that Baal did not answer? Was it for lack of effort on the part of the worshippers? No, they exerted maximum effort. Hurculean eff…
