Laying the Stone Laying the Stone. (Psalm 118:19–26; Luke 19:35–40). Well, welcome to Palm Sunday and I hope you like our new look here for Sunday morning. If you are new here the change is that we used to have to screens on the side and we’ve centralized here in the middle. We made these changes so we can really bring the focus in and closer. We’ve always wanted to centralize the screen but the architectural features of this room make that challenging for two reasons. First, we didn’t want to disrupt the view of the cross. But thanks to Jose Navarez, we go that problem fixed. Second, putting the screen up here blocks the baptismal. We are solving that problem by purchasing a portable one that we will bring out front here when we do baptisms. And honestly even if we didn’t move the screen I think we would do this anyway. If you’ve ever been up in that baptismal pool it’s honestly such a bad experience. Your so far away. We can see them but they can barely see anything up there and it feels so disconnected. Baptisms are supposed close relational and it will just be way better to be up close and personal in that way. Well we had a great kickoff to Easter yesterday. I’m not sure how many total people came but I know my wife’s lemonade stand served over 450 glasses of lemonade so that’s really great. We had many guests which we were absolutely thrilled to have and if you are one of those guests who came back today, you are our honored guest. You are welcome! Some may be wondering if we were able to retrieve the weather balloon. And the answer is, well. It landed in a swamp. But we were able to find it! We will release a full video later, but here’s a little teaser of how high it. I had a little girl come up to me yesterday and say, “I was so confused why we were launching a weather balloon but then I remembered your a space nerd.” Out of the mouth of babes and infants comes the truth… Palm Sunday Well last week we finished the book of Nehemiah which ended in a sort of anticlimax. After rebuilding the Temple under Zerubbabel and reforming the community under Ezra and rebuilding the Wall under the Nehemiah, we see this incredibly disapointing end to the book. After just a few short years you have corruption in the priesthood, neglect of the temple and ignoring of God’s Law. What appeared to be a revolution and geniune revival and prophetic fulfillment turned out to be another verse of the same song of failure. And what this pointed to was this: Israel didn’t need a reformer. She needed a redeemer. She needed a Savior. Someone who could give them a new heart. And so all of that was pointing us to Jesus. So this Palm Sunday, Good Friday and Easter we will be looking at…
