Gospel Spread: Use this crisis to draw many to faith in Christ (John 3:16). Well today we come to a Q&A Sunday on Men and Women’s Roles. If you are new here this morning this is not a normal Sunday morning. We are a Bible church which means we teach verse by verse through the Bible. That method ensures that God chooses the topics not us. We can’t cherry pick. And if ever there was a place I would like to skip it would be this chapter. No sane human being would choose to teach on this passage. It’s so controversial. It literally doesn’t matter what you say, people will get upset. So why do it? Because we believe that all God’s truth is good for us. Some have wondered, are we teaching on this as some sort of major corrective? NO! That is not the case. What we have taught the last several weeks has been the historical position of the church. No theological position is changing and very little practical change will come as a result of this. In fact, I want to actually apologize for not saying that last sentence first. I really do want to apologize. For some, the last two sermons have really created a lot of anxiety about what might be changing at CBC. I could have and SHOULD have said we are very, very thankful that the men and women in the church are operating in their roles. That was a mistake NOT to say that up front. And the elders who read my manuscript also want me to apologize on their behalf. Because the fact is: We love the men and women both are singing and leading instrumentally and vocally in worship. We love the fact that men and women are teaching our children in Sunday School and teaching our students. We love the fact that women are teaching in the women’s ministry and men in men’s ministry. This church is a serving church and the service that is going on all throughout this building every week is wonderful. VBS was so great last week and we are thankful for all the ways in which we saw people serving. We don’t want to change any of that.
