Nehemiah 4:1-23 · Discipline. People At Work — sermon from Cypress Bible Church on BibleSlides.

People At Work It’s very good to be back. I want to thank the Lord for the many great teachers and preachers we have in our church. When I go on vacation or take a week off to focus on other projects, we have 5 other ministry elders who are all gifted communicators and last week Dave Edwards, one of our lay elders preached, we have several of our lay elders teaching equipping classes which start today and over 180 people have signed up to be involved in those. I’m so thankful. We really are blessed. Why does God bless us as a church? Why does he give us gifts as Christians and not just teaching gifts but serving gifts, helping gifts, administrative gifts, giving fits, gifts of mercy and compassion? The answer is so we can bless other people. We need to start thinking outward this year. How can we as a church be a blessing to our neighbors, to Cypress, to Houston and to the nations who do not know Christ? Our theme for 2026 is sent with a purpose and I am really praying that, 2026 for our church, is a year of revival-style growth. What I mean by that is that every single person here has the greatest year of spiritual growth they have ever experienced. Those of you who are mature in Christ, you know that’s scary. That’s scary. But it’s also growth. That’s what I mean by revival style growth. Numerical growth is irrelevant. Most of the time if we are growing spiritually, we are growing numerically. But not always so we don’t really care about that. What we care about is spiritual growth personally so that we can reach the world for Christ. Revival out there will never happen until there is revival in here. Every single person needs to take hold of and realizes they are SENT by God with a PURPOSE and what is that purpose? To glorify God by pointing the affections of all peoples to the all-satisfying person of Jesus Christ. So we pray that your affections would be rooted in Christ so that you point other peoples affections to Jesus Christ. We want the greatest growth that you’ve ever seen in your life this year. That’s pretty bold, but that’s what I’m praying for. That’s what the elders are praying for. I am praying that for my family. I can feel it in bones. This is going to be a year where we round the corner as a church. I am praying that this is the year where a great, great work is experienced by CBC. Preparation But here’s something I want to prepare us for in advance and there&#8217…
