It has brought us so many wonderful advances. It’s helped us cure so many diseases. It’s engineered new materials. It’s propelled us into space. And just when you thought it couldn’t be any more amazing, here comes AI to further advance our understanding. We live in one of the most incredibly unique times in history. It’s a privilege to be alive in these times to have witnessed the advent of all this technology. As wonderful as the scientific method is, it can only get us so far. There are certain things science can never answer. Why does the universe exist? Why was Charlie Kirk shot and killed this week? What is the ultimate purpose of life? There are no experiments that could ever be devised that could answer these questions. Science excels at describing HOW things work within the natural world but cannot address WHY things are the way they are. The reason is this: “why questions” involve the will of spiritual beings which is outside of the realm of science. So here’s a very simple, if I put a book on the floor next to my door, there’s no experiment you can perform to find out why I did that. There’s a purpose that’s in my mind that’s outside of science. Maybe I intend to use it as a doorstop. Maybe I’m trying to cover up a stain that is bothering me. Maybe I put it there so I remember to bring it home. You’d have to ask me to find out. Science can’t answer that. And in the exact same way, science can’t answer the question, “Why is the world the way it is?” But the Bible can. The whole premise of the Christian worldview as revealed in the Bible is that things are the way they are because there are Spiritual forces at work behind the scenes. Ephesians 6:12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” And at the heart of that battle is a spirit of falsehood that wants nothing more than to try and deceive us, trick us, bewitch us, drug us and delude us into believing things that are not true. Why? Because Satan and his followers hate us and they know that easiest way to destroy us to get us to believe his lies. Because unbelief leads to apostasy. And apostasy leads to eternal destruction. What every demonic force in the world wants is for you to walk away from the faith that you now claim so that you will be eternally destroyed. That’s the great battle. And Satan has a strategy.
