Personal projects & hobbies

I'm Jason Wolin. I serve at Cypress Bible Church in Cypress, Texas, and I'm a follower of Jesus Christ. This page is a short record of projects and hobbies outside of pastoral work and BibleSlides: an electric Beetle conversion, flying, home remodeling, maker builds, and family life. Church context and why BibleSlides exists are on About.

1977 Super Beetle, electrified

I converted a 1977 Super Beetle to electric power and built the battery pack by hand. The pack uses 1,008 Boston-Power-style 5300 mAh cells, spot-welded and balanced into modules. It took a lot of testing; the car now runs on quiet electric torque.

Private pilot

I'm a private pilot. Most of the work is preflight, pattern practice, and cross-country flights when schedule allows.

Home remodeling & the one-ton beam

I do structural DIY on our house when needed. This clip shows setting a roughly thousand-pound beam with jacks—slow, careful work with the family helping where they can.

Raising the beam into place.

Roof solar

I wired and mounted a residential solar array: rails on the roof, microinverters under where the panels would sit, then the panels themselves.

Family

My wife and I have five kids. Most of life outside work revolves around them—meals, school, and the usual family calendar.

Pulpit with confidence monitor

I built a pulpit with an embedded confidence monitor and a Stream Deck for scene changes. The goal was simple: keep production controls at the pulpit so the congregation sees the message, not the tech.

Instructables & maker projects

I've published a few projects on Instructables—LED maps, clocks, CNC parts, and similar builds.

Ironman

I finished a full-distance Ironman: swim, bike, and marathon. Long day; grateful to finish.
